All-Day Workshop with Dementia Expert Teepa Snow

Alzheimer’s Society of Washington is presenting an educational workshop on Wednesday, May 30th, 2012.  The event, titled “Partnering in Dementia Care – Embracing Moments of Joy”, will be led by nationally-known dementia expert Teepa Snow.

Interactive workshops taught by Teepa Snow are highly recommended by us at Home Attendant Care.  We appreciate her unique, down-to-earth and effective approach to educating caregivers and family members about coping with dementia…and even finding moments of joy.

Teepa uses role playing to show how a person afflicted with dementia is feeling, and then she provides real life strategies that can be immediately implemented.  Workshop attendees will learn how to reduce frustration and make life more enjoyable for themselves and their loved ones.

Home Attendant Care director, Debbie Gann, had the opportunity to attend workshops featuring Teepa Snow’s in the past and was very impressed. “The common sense, real-life strategies I learned at those workshops have been shared many times with HAC’s caregivers and even family members of the seniors we serve.”

When her own mother’s dementia worsened Debbie flew to another state to take family members to one of Teepa Snow’s workshops.  The information they learned together as a family has been invaluable.  “We are now fortunate that the Alzheimer’s Society of Washington has chosen to bring Teepa to Whatcom County. If you are caring for a person with dementia, are a professional caregiver, family member or loved one, I highly recommend attending this class,” shares Debbie.
